11kv Copper Cable: What It Is And How We Use It
11kv copper cable is a kind of transmission cable which is used in power transmission trunk pipelines and distribution lines. It can transmit higher voltage and smaller current. Compared with ordinary power cables, it features a large-diameter cross-section, flexible length line, no joints, and switching operations.
What is 11kv Copper Cable?
11kV cables, manufactured to BS or IEC Available in either copper conductors.
Armoured to provide robust mechanical protection (aluminium wire armour on single-core, steel wire armour on multicore), these cables are suitable for direct burial in the ground.
11kV cables are installed at a height of 1.3m above ground level and below low voltage cables. 11kV mv cables are used mainly as distribution lines between substations and consumers. The conductor size is normally 2-6 mm2 depending on the power rating of the cable. 11kV underground cable systems use the double insulation technique for safety reasons, but this increases the weight of the cable considerably.
These cables have been designed for use in high voltage applications where high mechanical strength is required. They are also used for power transmission between substations or between transformer stations and supply points.
11kV underground cable specification
1.1 These specifications cover the design, manufacture, testing and supply of 1 or 3 core 11kv cable insulated, PVC sheathed dry type, Armoured and screened Power Cables for 11 kV systems. The cables are designed for operation at ambient temperatures up to 50°C/122°F under normal conditions and in excess of 60°C/140°F in exceptional cases.
1.2 11kv copper cable shall be resistant to fire under normal conditions and under the influence of moderate heat such that it will not ignite or continue to burn when subjected to a flame source not exceeding 30 kW/m² on all surfaces simultaneously and at a temperature not exceeding 650 K (343°C). The cables shall also be resistant to fire under extreme conditions such that they will not ignite or continue to burn when subjected to a flame source not exceeding 100 kW/m² on all surfaces simultaneously and at a temperature not exceeding 650 K (343°C).
1.3 11kv copper cable shall be resistant to mechanical damage during handling, installation and operation in accordance with IEC 60502-4-5:2003(E), IEC 60502-4-6:2002(E) and DIN.
11kv cable cost per metre
The price of 11kv copper cable per metre is influenced by the LME Copper price.
11kv copper cable price has two main aspects: the cost of raw materials and the cost of production. The main raw materials are copper and steel wire, which are used to make bare wire. The production process includes wire drawing, insulation coating, terminal crimping, etc.
The actual cost of bare wire is influenced by many factors such as the quality of copper, the thickness of copper, whether there is a protective layer or not and so on.
The price of 11KV copper cable will be affected by various factors such as the price of raw materials, production techniques, quantity and other factors. For example, 3 core 11kv cable is more expensive than 11kv xlpe cable. We will send your 11kv copper cable price list before you order.
Conclusion
The 11kv copper cable is a special kind of cable because of its very specific uses. Medium voltage cable has been used in the electrical industry for a variety of applications for over four decades. Additionally, the cable is built with an unprecedented level of quality and durability, two factors that are vital to the success of a product in any market. The copper that is used in the cable is 99.999% pure, meaning that it will not corrode or break down when exposed to the elements. We stock all different sizes of this cable.
